Four suspects arrested for theft of vehicle

Four men aged between 22 and 34 are set to appear before the KwaDukuza Magistrates Court for theft of the motor vehicle, possession of suspected stolen property as well as possession of breaking implements.

A vehicle was stolen in Ballito and a case was opened at the Umhlali police station for investigation

Following an investigation, the vehicle’s tracker indicated that it was in KwaDukuza and that the tracking unit was disconnected. A multi-disciplinary team that included various security agencies began following up on the information. The vehicle was spotted traveling along the N2 southbound near Ballito.

Another vehicle, suspected to belong to the suspects was also driving ahead of the stolen vehicle. Both vehicles were
stopped before Tongaat Toll Plaza.
Four occupants who were found in both vehicles were arrested and both vehicles were searched.

During the search police officers found four-vehicle computer boxes with keys, bags belonging to the owner of the vehicle, a two-way radio, a bag with vehicle breaking implements, and a vehicle key programmer. Both vehicles were seized for further investigation.

All four suspects were detained at the Umhlali Police Station and were charged for theft of a motor vehicle, possession of vehicle breaking implements, and possession of suspected stolen property.
