Police operations which comprised of police officers from various police stations across the province as well as various units in the SAPS moved into Umgungundlovu District.
The Plessislaer policing area which is in Umgungundlovu is experiencing high levels of contact crimes which has also claimed many lives. Police deployments put in place last year, has resulted in many arrests and recoveries. High calibre firearms have been seized from the hands of suspects. During the operations, police found themselves caught in gunfire with suspects who did not want to surrender themselves. We will not allow criminals to terrorise our community and roam free on our streets.
Yesterday from 16:00 until midnight, an operation was put in place at the various areas in the same district. A total of 81 arrests were made by police.
