Kidnap victim located in Ottawa

Zahera Bana Mohamed who has been missing since 08:30 on Wednesday morning has been located.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a resident of Maharaj Road in Ottawa in KZN at 11:42 (Thursday) reporting a hysterical female running on the road.

Reaction Officers who were searching for a missing person arrived on the scene and identified the female as 42-year-old Mohamed who was last seen yesterday. According to Mohamed, she was accosted by two armed men near the Verulam Bus Rank yesterday morning whilst on her way to board a taxi to work. She was forced into a vehicle with four men and a woman and was given a medication that forced her to fall asleep.

She awoke later at an unknown location and was asked to contact her son telephonically and request R2 million for her release. Mohamed said that she informed her kidnappers that she did not have children. She was then kicked several times in her abdomen and questioned repeatedly. When it was established that she did not have a son, she was forced to sleep on the floor for the duration of the night.

A short while ago she was accompanied by the four men and the woman in a
silver Mercedes Benz with NRB registration. They dropped her off on Old Main Road in Ottawa and fled.
Earlier last week Reaction Unit South Africa responded to Mohamed’s place of employment after she reported being followed by unknown males on two occasions.

A case of kidnapping is being investigated.
