Suspect arrested for drug consignment worth over R2 million

Drug operations are still ongoing in the province and police officers from Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit remain on high alert, investigating criminal activities and putting drug dealers behind the bars. This was followed by an operation that was conducted yesterday at 18:00.

An intensive investigation was conducted after police received reports of the illegal drug trade that was taking place at a house in Chatsworth. The team swooped on the premises on Montford Road in Chatsworth to execute a search warrant. The premises were searched and police found 70 800 capsules of heroin, 50 pieces of rock cocaine, 15 mandrax tablets, and 291 grams of crystal meth. Cash of R13 650-00, suspected to be the proceeds of the drug trade was also seized by the team. The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R2 185 000-00.

A 52-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for possession and dealing of drugs. He is appearing before the Chatsworth Magistrates Court this morning.
