The body of a 66 year old Tribal Councilor (Induna) was located hanging from a tree in an isolated location in Emona, KZN today (Thursday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance from a member of the public at 11:37 after a search party made the discovery. The caller agreed to meet RUSA Members at a service station in Cottonlands, KZN and escorted them to the scene.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics drove several kilometers on unpaved roads to reach the isolated location. First Responders then walked down a steep embankment through dense vegetation where the body of the man was located hanging by a nylon rope tied to the branch of a tree.
According to the public, the deceased was employed at a local farm. He left home for work yesterday (Wednesday) morning as usual. When he failed to return last night, his family grew concerned and began searching for him. Members of the community joined in on the search and discovered his lifeless body today.
The motive for the suicide has not been established.
