West Coast Police arrest another suspect found in possession of endangered succulent plants

Vigilant police officers arrested two suspects in isolated incidents in possession of flora and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition without a valid license.

On Tuesday, 22 March 2022, police members of the N7 Flying Squad responded to a call for assistance from Provincial Traffic near Piekenierskloof. Upon arrival, they requested the passengers to disembark the taxi, with the intention to search the vehicle. The members confiscated a suitcase and backpack filled with succulents. A 34-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of flora without documentation.

Grassy Park police members were busy with focused patrols in the early hours of today when they spotted a suspicious male walking down Eric Way, in Ottery. The members searched the man and confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The 25-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in Piketberg and Wynberg on the mentioned charges.
