Drug user shot in Verulam CBD

A 23-year-old male was shot by unknown males in the Verulam CBD this morning.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called out by several people who witnessed the shooting on the corner of Todd and Wick Street.

Paramedics & Reaction Officers searched for the victim & eventually located him further down Wick Street. He had fled the scene after being shot in the leg.

According to the man, he was on route to meet a drug user and smoke Sugars. A white Toyota Avanza pulled up to him and a male exited the left passenger side of the vehicle and accused him of stealing copper pipes. He was then shot in his left leg with a handgun. The suspect fled the scene.

The victim was released on free bail after he was recently arrested for Theft.
