Shooting victim rescued in Oakford

A 23-year-old man was rescued by members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) after he was shot and locked in a house in Oakford – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance. According to the caller, they witnessed a man being shot during a hijacking. Reaction Officers proceeded to the location and on arrival met with the victim’s family. They were suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.

It was established that the victim was seated in his silver VW Polo with registration NUR 23886 when he was accosted by three suspects. They removed him from the vehicle and began assaulting him. One of the suspects then shot him. The suspects opened fire on members of his family who went to his assistance. Some of his family members stated that the injured male was forced back into the vehicle which sped off while others claimed that he fled into a bush behind their house.

Reaction Officers walked through the dense bush and reached a house. The man could be heard screaming for help from inside. Reaction Officers broke the door and located the victim seated on a bed. He explained that after he fled from his attackers, he made his way to his neighbor’s house. The man locked him inside and proceeded out to seek assistance but failed to return for more than an hour.

Medics treated the victim for a gunshot wound to his abdomen before transporting him to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
