10 Anti-Air Regiment went out in full force this past week. In their first major success ever since they deployed in Limpopo province under the banner of Operation CORONA (border-protection), 10 Anti-Air Regiment recovered illicit goods worth over 2 Million Rand along the RSA/Zimbabwe border.

After receiving a tip-off from his Intelligence Officer, the Officer Commanding 10 Anti-Air Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Ntsieng, shared the information with his Company Commanders who in turn issued orders to their members on the ground. It came as no surprise when the soldiers who were busy with the Way-lay operation in the Gumbu 1 area, recovered 2 suspected luxurious vehicles which we’re intending to cross the border illegally into Zimbabwe. Upon approaching the vehicles, the drivers jumped out and ran straight across the border into Zimbabwe. The vehicles were found to be Toyota Hilux GD6 Legend 50 valued at R 850 000,00 and the other was Toyota Fortuner 2020 model valued at R 900 000,00. Both vehicles were recovered by Thohoyandou Vehicle-theft Unit.

Meanwhile, their counterparts at Echo 3, on the Western side of Beitbridge Port of Entry, soldiers confiscated dagga valued at R 126 500,00 being carried by a Zimbabwean Police Constable. The Zimbabwean Police Constable was carrying dagga and had also crossed the border illegally into South Africa. He was also carrying his Zimbabwean Police Appointment Identity Card with him.

On the other side of the border, other members 10 Anti-Air Regiment confiscated Illicit cigarettes valued at R262 017-00. A very elated Officer Commanding Joint Tactical Headquarters Limpopo Colonel Choene Samuel Mabotja commended the members for a job well done.
