Female nabbed with firearm and stolen goods

On Saturday, 7 May 2022 at 07:00 the police followed up on intelligence about a house in Embo at Hillcrest where stolen goods were kept. Police proceeded to the said address and they found a 25-year-old female who allowed them to search the house.

Upon searching the house a rifle and 59 rounds of ammunition were recovered as well as other stolen property. She informed the police that the items belongs to her boyfriend who was not in the house during the arrest. A vehicle was also seized at the premises. The preliminary investigation conducted by police revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Berea during December 2021.

The woman was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm, defeating the ends of justice, and possession of goods suspected to be stolen. The matter is being investigated by Hillcrest police and the suspect will appear at the Pinetown Magistrates Court today.
