Inquest opened following the discovery of a body in a dam in Bronville

The Police at Bronville is requesting the public to assist in identifying the body of an unknown African male that was found floating in a dam near Winnie Park in Bronville on Saturday, the 9 April 2022.

The Police were summoned to the scene by members of the community after noticing the body in a dam. Upon arrival, the scene was cordoned, and SAPS Diving Unit members were also summoned to the scene and managed to successfully retrieve the body from the water.

Medical Services Personnel were summoned and the African male was found suspected to have drowned and was certified dead. There were no visible injuries on the body. A case of Inquest has been registered for further investigation.

The deceased is an African male who could be between 38 and 42 years old. The body was already in a decomposed state. The deceased was wearing a pair of blue Jean trousers, a brown t-shirt and could be 1, 7 meters tall. The body is still in Welkom Government Mortuary and is yet to be identified.
