Shots were fired as an armed gang fled the scene of a home invasion on Southridge Circle in Southridge – KZN this afternoon (Wednesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the area at approximately 19:47 after residents reported the gunfire. While on route, Reaction Officers received an update from the Operations Center regarding a robbery at that occurred at a Metro Policeman’s house.
On arrival, the off duty Policeman informed Reaction Officers that six (6) suspects gained entry into his residence. The suspects were all armed with firearms. The family of five were forced to lay face down on the floor. The suspects demanded jewellery from one of the females. She was forced into her bedroom which was ransacked until their jewellery was located. Four cellphones were also stolen. The robbers fired shots as they were exiting the property. Residents reported seeing a white Hyundai i10 (registration unknown) leaving the scene.
No injuries were reported.
