SAPS Gelvandale detectives are urgently seeking the communities’ assistance in tracing the mother of a newborn baby found in a bin last night, 8 May 2022 in Cleary Park.
It is alleged that on Sunday, 8 May 2022 at about 20:30, a staff employee at a fast-food franchise in Cleary Park made the disturbing discovery of a newborn baby girl in a plastic bag thrown into a sanitary bin in the toilet. The umbilical cord was still attached to the child. The baby was in a partial state of decomposition and staff became suspicious after a constant foul smell lingered in the toilet.
At this stage no other information is available and police have opened an inquest docket.
Anyone who can assist police in tracing the mother of the infant or may be suspicious of any female who may have given birth and there is no sign of a child is asked to contact D/W/O Edman Mandeka at SAPS Gelvandale on 078 370 9785 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.
