Two suspects aged 23 and 39 are expected to appear in Galeshewe and Postmasburg Magistrates’ Court respectively following their arrest on Tuesday, 31 May 2022.
Both suspects evaded arrest subsequent to committing serious and violent crimes such as rape, kidnapping, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in Galeshewe and Postmasburg.
It is alleged that between 18 and 22 May 2022, the 23-year-old suspect kidnapped and raped an 18-year-old victim and fled the scene to evade arrest.
The Provincial Tracking Team was activated and successfully traced and apprehended the suspect after the team received information, which led them to the veld between Colville and Santa Centre where the suspect was found hiding.
In a separate incident, a 39-year-old suspect who was on the run from the police in connection with four different cases of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and kidnapping was also arrested by the Northern Cape Provincial Tracking team in Postmasburg.
The suspect was sought for assaulting and kidnapping four women aged between 26 and 35 on separate occasions in Postmasburg.
The Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Brigadier Nicky Mills praised the tracking team for bringing the wanted suspects to book.
