Suspect arrested for the possession of unrefined platinum powder with a mass of 214,98 kilogram

An intelligence-driven operation between the Western and Eastern Cape Crime Intelligence on Friday, 24 June 2022 at about 08:30 in Melk Street, Maitland, saw the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect for the possession of unrefined platinum powder with a mass of 214,98 kilogram.

The value of the confiscated goods is yet to be determined. The members confiscated machinery and an undisclosed amount of cash during the search of the premises. The suspect was arrested on charges of presumed stolen property and contravention of the Precious Metal Act.

Once charged the suspect will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges. #RejectAndReportStolenGoods
