Suspect arrested after robbing victim of his money, cellphone and bicycle at Masakeng Street in Ga-Rankuwa.

Two TMPD Ceremonial unit members were performing their duties when they heard a very alarming scream from a young man at Masakeng Street in Ga-Rankuwa.

They rushed to where the scream was coming from and found a young male bleeding from the head and pointed the officers to two males with a bicycle.

He alerted the officers that those two males just robbed him off his money, cellphone and bicycle and hit him on the head with a firearm.

The officers gave chase to the suspects and they left the bicycle and fled to the bushes.

The two officers managed to apprehend one suspect and the other one fled. As they were busy arresting the suspect, community members approached and some identified the suspect as one of the notorious robbers who is terrorizing and robbing community members as they walk to the mall.

One person alleged that he was robbed at gun point by the same suspect. They took his money, cell phone and clothes and assaulted him.

The officers managed to recover all the items taken from the complainant. The suspect was arrested for armed robbery and will appear in court soon.

The Tshwane Metro Police Department would like to give gratitude to the two officers who responded swiftly when they heard a call for help from the young man.

The case will be investigated further to apprehend the other suspect. TMPD will continue to serve and protect the City of Tshwane.
