The Tshwane Metro Police Cable theft members responded to a complaint on Wednesday 08 June 2022 from an owner of a scrapyard in Pretoria North regarding a suspected stolen cable.
The owner had previously warned his employees not to buy cables brought illegally. One of the employees disregarded his employer and brought in suspected stolen cables. The owner contacted TMPD officers.
The TMPD Cable theft members on arrival checked the cables and were confirmed to be stolen from Telkom. The employee was then arrested for possession of stolen cables and will appear in court soon.
TMPD will continue to fight cable theft which has serious repercussions of damaging essential infrastructure.
