A 26-year-old woman delivered a healthy baby on the roadside while waiting four hours for medical assistance.
Residents of Mhlasini – KZN contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at 14:59 requesting urgent assistance for the female after she delivered a baby girl on the side of the road. RUSA Medics were dispatched to the location provided and on arrival examined the mother and child. The female stated that she went into labour at 11:00 and contacted the Provincial Ambulance Service. After waiting four hours she delivered the child on her own.
The mother and child were transported by ambulance to hospital in a stable condition
