Blue Light Robbers Target Motorists: Verulam – KZN

Four suspects in a white Toyota Etios (registration unknown) with blue SAPS lights are being sought for a spate of hijackings and a kidnapping that occurred in Verulam – KZN last night (Saturday).

Two foreign nationals in an imported Honda Elysion (pictured ) stopped after the suspects turned on the blue light while they were driving through Mhlasini – KZN. The suspects impersonated Police Officers before they hijacked the vehicle leaving the victims stranded on the roadside.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were dispatched to the scene at approximately 23:42. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the victims who were not injured. An extensive search was launched and their vehicle was recovered by RUSA Members abandoned on Honeysuckle Road in Brindhaven – KZN.

Reaction Officers were later informed that the same gang had also hijacked two other vehicles in Verulam – KZN during the course of the night. In one incident the driver of an unknown vehicle was forced to stop after he ignored the blue lights. The hijackers loaded him into their vehicle and dumped him KwaMashu – KZN. Reaction Officers did not attend to this callout.

Motorists are urged to be on high alert.
