A man believed to be in his mid-thirties was killed after he was run over by a white Toyota Avanza on Gopalall Hurbans road in the Tongaat CBD – KZN this morning (Thursday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the scene at approximately 04:02 after receiving requests for assistance for the critically injured pedestrian.
Reaction Officers and RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched and on arrival located the pedestrian on the side of the road. On examination he was found to have sustained life threatening injuries and demised on scene.
According to the driver of the vehicle, he was traveling on Gopalall Hurbans Road heading in the direction of the Watson Highway intersection when he noticed the pedestrian standing on the road. He was unable to avoid him.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the accident.
