Reaction Unit South Africa officer attacked by a suspect in an attempted robbery in Umhlanga

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a premises in Umhlanga – Kwazulu Natal requesting assistance after an unknown male attempted to forcefully gain entry into a residential complex. Minutes later a second call was received informing the Operations Center that the suspects had attacked a security guard at the premises and immediate assistance was required.

Reaction Officer Mbatha was expedited to the premises and upon arrival was attacked by the suspect who attempted to flee to a white BMW parked nearby. After a brief scuffle, the suspect was restrained.

The Officer suffered injuries to his right hand, wrist and body. His radio, mobile phone and other equipment were damage during the attack.

The suspect was eventually arrested by the Officer and detained at SAPS Durban North on Cas No. 186/07/2022.
