Robbery at a takeaway on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD

Two suspects fled with cellphones and cash following a robbery at a take away on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN this afternoon.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 18:32. On arrival it was established that two men entered the store and held up the owner and his employees.

One of the suspects was armed with a firearm.

The victims were forced into the kitchen where they were asked to hand over their valuables. The owner, a Pakistani national was robbed of his days takings. A shot was fired during the robbery.

The bullet struck a pizza oven. The robbers fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

No injuries were reported.
