SAPS Sophiatown members recover copper cables with an estimated value of R200 000 following an accident between two vehicles in Newlands

On Monday, 04 July 2022 members of SAPS Sophiatown recovered copper cables with an estimated value of R200 000-00 in Newlands, west of Johannesburg following an accident between two vehicles.

The SAPS members reportedly responded to the accident scene in Newlands. It is alleged that both the drivers fled the accident scene; one driver drove off while the other driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.

Further investigation led the members to find copper cables loaded onto the abandoned vehicle.

Further investigation is still underway.
