Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the community, and the father of 10-year-old Sanele Gogo conducted an extensive search of Hazelmere – KZN after receiving information that he was spotted in the area this afternoon.
Gogo fled his home on Saturday (16/07/2022) after he was disciplined by his father for stealing more than R400 from a neighbor and a soccer club. The boy purchased Dragon energy drinks and snowballs with some of the money.
His father received information this afternoon that the grade 3 student from Cottonlands Primary was seen playing with other children in the area. The search party proceeded to the property where he was last seen when it was confirmed that he was there but left at approximately 17:00.
Other children in the area were interviewed and confirmed that Gogo was sleeping in one of several houses that were being constructed in the area. Reaction Officers and members of the community searched several construction sites however Gogo could not be located.
The search will resume tomorrow.
