Firearms stolen during a home invasion in Cordoba

A .22 rifle, shotgun, 9mm pistol, and more than 200 rounds of ammunition were amongst several items stolen during a home invasion on Ramnager Road in Cordoba Gardens – KZN.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance. On arrival, it was established that five suspects jumped over the boundary wall shortly after one of the victims entered the residence on completion of his morning prayer. The 71 year old male noticed the robbers in the yard and attempted to shut the front door however the suspects managed to force their way into the house.

A 63 year old woman was forced to lay on the kitchen floor before they confronted the elderly couple’s 35 year old son in one of the bedrooms. The robbers demanded cash and jewelry. While searching the home for valuables, the discovered a rifle safe. They threatened to shoot the victims if they did not hand over the keys. They emptied the safe before they stole a tv and cellphones.

The robbers then locked the family in one of the bedrooms before they fled. The victims have forced open the door and sought assistance from neighbors who contacted RUSA. The family were unable to confirm what vehicle was used by the suspects. They were traumatised, however no injuries were reported.

The suspects are believed to be foreign nationals.
