Power box explodes in Verulam

A power box situated in the Verulam CBD – KZN burst into flames after it exploded.

Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a businessman requesting assistance to investigate an explosion that was heard on the corner of Ireland & Moss Street.

Reaction Officers were dispatched to the location and on arrival discovered a power box engulfed in flames. A building situated in the vicinity was at risk of catching alight. Reaction Officers summoned the Ethekwini Fire Departments while they doused the building with water in an attempt to prevent the fire from spreading. The fire was extinguished on arrival of Fire Fighters.

The cause of the explosion was not immediately established.
