Grabouw SAPS arrest four suspects for possession of abalone and West Coast lobsters

An intelligence-driven operation by members of Grabouw SAPS and Overstrand Law Enforcement led to the arrest of four males aged between 25 and 34 on 2022-09-26 at about 06:35.

The members received information and immediately operationalised it. They pulled over a Silver Discovery Land Rover on the N2 National Road, between Houwhoek farm stall and Highrising, Grabouw. Members searched the vehicle and found 29 plastic bags containing 3 760 units of abalone with an estimated street value of R600 000.

A white Toyota Corolla was also pulled over and a 26-year-old male was found in possession of 29 West Coast Rock Lobsters and three lobster tails with a street value of approximately R3000.

Once charged, the suspects are due to appear in the Grabouw Magistrate Court on charges relating to the Living Marine Resources Act.
