Provincial Commissioner sends strong warning against perpetrators of GBVF after husband gunned down wife, daughter and alleged boyfriend

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe sends a stern warning to community members to stop resorting to violence in domestic disputes. This is after a 58-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife, daughter, and alleged boyfriend at their home in Bothashoek, Dithabaneng village under Tubatse policing area outside Burgersfort yesterday, Monday, 26 September 2022.

Police were called to the scene by community members at about 23:00. Upon arrival at the scene, members discovered three lifeless bodies of two females and a male with gunshot wounds. The suspect was later traced and arrested.

The deceased were identified as Themina Clara Morema aged 42, her daughter Nomasonto Morema aged 24, and the man’s identity is still unknown.

“This incident is horrific and shocking. We urge community members to seek help when they encounter domestic challenges and desist from resorting to extreme violence,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe

The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage but domestic violence cannot be ruled out. Police have opened three counts of murder.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Wednesday 28 September 2022.
