🚨 ALERT
Road Closures at the MR0690 (Welkom St), MR0688 (Independence Road) and Joubert St.
From Monday 21 November 2022 at 12pm, motorists should expect delays and detours when travelling on the N2 BETWEEN East London & Qonce (formerly King William’s Town).
The road closures will continue until September 2023. Please note that the N2 between East London and Qonce, will be OPEN.
The road closures ONLY AFFECT THE FOLLOWING STREETS/ROADS…
1. Welkom Street from N2 towards Zwelitsha/Bhisho,
2. Independence Road between Zwelitsha and Bhisho
3. Independence Road to Welkom Street, joining the N2
4. The portion of Joubert Street from Qonce to Zwelitsha/Bhisho – vice versa.
NB: Motorists that wish to travel to Bhisho may use an alternative route which is….
* The R102 towards Ilitha/Phakamisa direction.
* Or travel to Qonce, right onto Hargreaves Rd and take a left at the N2 circle left onto Alexander Rd and take a right onto the R63/Maitland Rd to Bhisho. (Road signs will be there to guide you)
Motorists are advised to add 15-30 minutes to their travel time. Traffic is expected to run smoother with a better flow of traffic than it is currently. Motorists are also advised to read road signs carefully.
