Midlands ems Howick crews were dispatched to Merrivale main road at 07:30 for a head-on collision.
Upon arrival, it was found that 2 people sustained injuries and 1 of them was entrapped in a vehicle in a critical condition and required urgent Advanced life support treatment.
Once stabilized, the patient was extricated using Jaws of life 1.
Both patients were treated on scene before to a nearby private hospital.
The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities.
