Shots fired at farmer in Canelands

Multiple shots were fired at a farmer at his smallholding in Canelands – KZN.

Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) were called out to the property. On arrival, Reaction Officers met with the 52-year-old man who stated that he was in the process of unlocking a gate leading to his farm when unknown gunmen opened fire on him.

He fled into a bush and returned fire from his 9mm pistol when the suspects fled in a white double cab bakkie (registration & model unknown). The victim’s white Colt bakkie and the driveway gate were shot. No injuries were reported.

The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
