Our endeavors to rid the Western Cape of firearms from the hands of criminals who commit serious and violent crimes saw the arrest of a 33-year-old male for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Tuesday afternoon in Blikkiesdorp, Delft. The members searched the premises after they received information about firearms at the premises. Two pistols were confiscated during the search.
The suspect is due to make a court appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrates court on Thursday.
In an unrelated matter members of the Rural Flying Squad arrested a 35-year-old male for the possession of uncut diamonds, unrefined gold, and drugs in the early hours of this morning. The members received information about a white Toyota Quantum that is travelling on the N7 between Clanwilliam and Citrusdal with one passenger who is in possession of the diamonds, gold and drugs.
The vehicle was stopped and the passengers, luggage, and vehicle were searched when the discovery was made in the luggage of one passenger. Seven bags containing dagga, 50 mandrax tablets, 9,4 gram crystal meth, 4,22 gram unrefined gold, and 35 pieces of uncut diamonds were confiscated.
The suspect will appear in the Clanwilliam Magistrates court on Thursday on the mentioned charges.
