Two people have been killed in a horrific accident on Stella Road by the Shell Garage just before 5pm on Saturday afternoon.
ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find total carnage. A single vehicle had lost control before colliding into a petrol station. One person a male in his forties sustained critical injuries and there was nothing more Paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased on the scene. Another passenger, a male in his sixties was found severely entrapped in the vehicle with critical injuries. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilize the man in the wreckage while the Ethekwini Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other hydraulic equipment to try and free the man. Once free the man was rushed through to a nearby Durban hospital for the urgent treatment that he required however on arrival at the hospital the patient went into cardiac arrest and despite Advanced Life Support efforts he was declared deceased at the hospital.
At this stage the events leading up to the accident are unknown however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
