Limpopo welcomes new Head of Department of Transport and Community Safety

MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani has announced the appointment of Mr. Stephen Matjena as Head of Department (HOD). His appointment is effective from 01 January 2023.

MEC Radzilani welcomed finalization of the recruitment process and appointment of Mr. Matjena, highlighting that this will bring stability into the Department, towards the drive of providing decent services to the people of the Limpopo Province.

“Mr. Matjena has demonstrated a great amount of commitment and impeccable skill, since taking over the Office of the HOD in acting capacity, in the past eight months.

Through our engagements with Mr Matjena, we have impressed upon him, the importance and the need, to attain acceptable audit report opinions.This will be a way of showing our continuous commitment, to the people of this Province, about the urgent need to remain being ‘an answerable department’.

Mr. Matjena’s tenure, into this imperative role, will largely depend on the support that we are going to accord him, as political leaders, stakeholders and staff of the Department.

I also want to thank Premier Chupu Stan Mathabatha for providing leadership during this period, and ensuring that this process gets concluded expediently.

As the Executive Authority, I have assured him of my unwavering support, and I want to implore all of you, to join hands in this crusade, of making the Department of Transport and Community Safety, the ‘ultimate provider of decent services’, to the people of the Limpopo Province” said Radzilani.
