Bank robbery vicitm pronounced deceased in Verulam

A man who was shot in the head during a robbery outside Standard Bank on Wick Street in the Verulam CBD – KZN was pronounced deceased.

The deceased and a colleague were confronted by two armed suspects approximately 30 meters from the entrance of the bank. It is alleged that the man resisted when one of the suspect’s shot him in the head. According to witnesses, the injured male held onto the bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect thereafter fired a second shot and wrenched the bag from him. His colleague was also robbed of the bag of cash he was carrying. The suspects fled in a silver Toyota Corolla with an ND registration. RUSA Medics expedited the critically injured man to the hospital. His condition rapidly deteriorated during the journey.

Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased on arrival at the hospital.
