Two suspects were arrested for attempted cash-in-transit robbery and robbery of a firearm

Two suspects aged 32 and 36 have been arrested for attempted cash-in-transit robbery and robbery of a firearm where a Fidelity Cash Solutions company was attacked.

This follows an incident that happened last year on 6 December 2022, where an armored vehicle was allegedly attacked by six men at Engen garage outside Mossel Bay.

The suspects robbed the crewman of his official firearm. They then tried to access the vault of the vehicle but couldn’t succeed to access the money and they left the scene with a getaway vehicle that was later found abandoned.

Through preliminary investigation, one of the suspects was identified and on 4 January 2023, the George DPCI National Priority Violent Crimes Investigation together with members of the Garden route flying squad operationalised information received and arrested two suspects in the Thembalethu area.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrates Court on 06 January 2023. More arrests are imminent.
