The family of 69-year-old South African Tourist Dhramalingum Pillay missing in Mumbai – India is offering a reward for information.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was informed this morning (Friday) that a reward of 50 000 Indian Rupees (R10 773) will be paid for any positive information leading to the location of the missing man.
The Tongaat – Kwazulu Natal resident was holidaying in India with his 35-year-old daughter since Friday (20/01/2023). On Tuesday (31/01/2023), the two were expected to return to South Africa via an African Airport when Pillay disappeared from the Mumbai International Airport.
The elderly man disappeared when his daughter fell asleep while waiting to board their flight from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. His passport, visa, and other travel documents remained in his daughter’s possession.
Pillay’s nephew contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) last week (3/02/2023) seeking assistance after attempts to located him were unsuccessful. Reaction Officers were informed that the missing man has a history of Dementia. His daughter remained in India & has been in contact with Indian Authorities in Mumbai.
The eleven (11) day search has been unsuccessful. On Tuesday 7/02/2023 the Indian Consulate in Durban – South Africa made contact with Reaction Unit SA offering assistance. Communication between the family & embassies in both countries has remained open since.
