An apparent side-swipe crash resulted in one vehicle veering off the road and crashing into a palm tree, killing the driver instantly. The passenger sustained less serious injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage.
As per the initial report received, the second vehicle involved in the crash subsequently left the scene. The driver was arrested during the day.
