Child bitten by snake hospitalised in Everest Hieghts

A twelve year (12) year old girl that was bitten by an unidentified green snake has been hospitalised at the Osindisweni Government Hospital (OGH).

A mother & daughter arrived at the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Headquarters at approximately 19:04 (Saturday) seeking assistance after the child was bitten by a reptile while playing near a flowerpot at her grandmother’s home in Everest Heights – Kwazulu Natal.

The mother described the snake as green, long, and thick as a 50-cent coin. The child began having difficulty breathing & experienced body pains. Reaction Officers provided an expedited escort to Osindisweni Hospital in an attempt to get medical assistance without delay.

The child is a Grade 7 pupil at Dawncrest Primary School in Verulam – KZN.
