A heavily intoxicated man was arrested after he sped off following a collision on Lenham Drive in Westham – KZN this afternoon (Sunday).
Members of Reaction Officers were on patrol in the area at approximately 22:41 when they witnessed a silver Toyota Corolla colliding into the rear of a white Toyota Hilux bakkie. Reaction Officers pursued the light motor vehicle after the driver sped off. Officers managed to box in the car approximately 500 metres away. The driver was heavily intoxicated and claimed to have no recollection of the incident. He did inform RUSA Members that he was consuming alcohol at a bar and recalled being involved in a crash shortly after he left. The rear of his vehicle was also damaged.
The 44-year-old was placed under arrest and handed over to the Phoenix SAPS for further investigation.
