A robbery suspect was seriously injured after he was overpowered and beaten by the community in Westham – KZN this morning (Thursday).
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance from a private Security Company at approximately 06:46 after a man was discovered bleeding on a pathway on Westham Drive.
According to the caller, a replica firearm was located next to the individual.
Reaction Officers & RUSA Medics were immediately dispatched. On arrival, the injured male was found to have sustained a severe head injury. Members of the public informed Reaction Officers that the male was a robbery suspect. He allegedly attempted to rob a pedestrian when he was disarmed, overpowered and assaulted by the community.
The injured male was stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital by ambulance.
