Heightened awareness of the responsibility of SAPS members when static at a crime scene led to the confiscation of four firearms and ammunition.
Milnerton police were static at a crime scene of an attempted murder on Thursday 06 April in Ekupumuleni Informal settlement in Milnerton at around 21:00 when an unknown man jumped out of a vehicle and fled. They saw the man pitching an object onto the roof of a nearby shack. The police members apprehended the male and confiscated a revolver with ammunition in his possession. They then searched the parcel on the roof and confiscated an air rifle with ammunition. Further investigation resulted in the confiscation of two firearms and ammunition hidden inside the motor vehicle under the seat. They arrested and detained the 35-year-man on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Once charged he is expected to make a court appearance in the Cape Town Central Magistrate court on the mentioned charges.
