Operation Restore results in the arrests of suspects for possession of drugs and possession of firearms and ammunition

Police members of Operation Restore arrested and detained suspects during operations on Saturday, 08 April 2023 on charges of possession of drugs and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Police members deployed in Gugulethu followed up on information and drove to an address in NY40. Upon arrival at the address they searched the premises and confiscated 137 mandrax tablets. They arrested and detained a 25-year-old man on a charge of possession of drugs.

Meanwhile, the members deployed in Saldanha Bay pursued information and proceeded to an address in Jacob Street in Diazville. Their patience were rewarded when they ultimately confiscated a revolver with ammunition and arrested a suspect on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Athlone and Saldanha Bay Magistrate court’s on the mentioned charges.
