The Prieska police, while executing operation Vuthu Hawe actions, apprehended and arrested six male suspects on Tuesday, 18 April 2023 at different locations in Prieska.
The team During their normal patrols acted on information regarding a suspect who was allegedly in possession of property stolen from the local Ethembeni clinic as well as drugs at premises in the West End location.
They operationalised the information and obtained the relevant search and seizure warrants and raided the identified premises.
The police managed to successfully seize and confiscate the items stolen at the clinic, which included a Mecer computer and keyboard as well as other medical equipment all valued at R15 000-00. One male suspect was arrested for possession of the possible stolen property.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, another male was arrested at a house in West End for possession of drugs that including mandrax tablets, tik with tik bulbs all with an estimated value of R46 039-92 and R6 730-00 cash that is alleged to be the proceeds of crime.
The team arrested 4 more suspects during stop-and-search actions for possession of drugs.
All suspects are expected to appear in the Prieska Magistrate Court soon.
The team also pounced on, raided, and closed two illegal shebeens, fines worth R500 and R800 respectively were issued to the owners.
