Operation Paseka comprised of the South African Police Service and Traffic Department yielded positive results as suspects were arrested in separate incidents over the Easter weekend in Tweefontein.
Sana Seun Makuwa (45) was arrested for alleged possession of unlicensed firearms (pistol, shotgun, and a rifle) with some ammunition on Monday, 10 April 2023. He was also charged with other offenses including possession of dagga and possession of suspected stolen properties.
14 other suspects were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, 10 for public drinking, and five were nabbed on charges of contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa.
The suspects who were arrested for public drinking have already paid admission of guilty whilst Makuwa appeared at the Kwamhlanga Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 11 April 2023 and the matter was postponed to 20 April 2023 for a formal bail application meanwhile the suspect remained in custody.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the arrests of the suspects,”police and other law enforcement agencies are working hard to make the province safer” said the General.
