Robbers open fire on passerby in Dawncrest

A grey Hyundai i30 was shot by suspects fleeing a home invasion on Kestrel Grove in Dawncrest – KZN.

A driver of the vehicle contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA requesting assistance after two bullets struck his vehicle. The caller was unable to confirm circumstances leading up to the shooting.

All available Reaction Officers were immediately dispatched and on arrival established that four men gained entry onto a property on Kestrel Grove. They held up the homeowner who was in the yard.

They thereafter gained forced entry into the house. The robbers were disturbed by other occupants from the home. They snatched a laptop and a kettle before they fled.

A neighbour driving the grey Hyundai i30 was passing the property and slowed down to investigate when the suspects opened fire on his vehicle. The man sped off and contacted RUSA for assistance. The suspects fled in a silver Mercedes Benz (registration unknown).

No injuries were reported.
