SAPS bids farewell to constable Lefaka

The Management of Atteridgeville police station led by the National Commisioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola today bid farewell to Constable Katlego Lefaka who died in the line of duty on 07 May 2023. The funeral service of the late member was held at Shamfana Village in Giyana, Limpopo, this morning.

Constable Lefaka was shot and wounded at the time when he was responding to a complaint at an identified address in Sinoville. He later succumbed to his gunshot wounds in hospital. Three suspects have since been arrested and have already appeared in court on a charge of murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

In attendance was Brigadier Kushie Petersen who was representing the District Commissioner of Tshwane and the station commander of Atteridgeville, Brigadier Moeti Rapitsi

The member who was only 30 years of age and had 4 years’ service having joined the SAPS in 2019 has been described as a dedicated, committed and community orientated police officer who always put the needs of his community before his own.

The National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola says R25 million rand has been set aside to enhance police safety initiatives.
