Another copper thief met his match yesterday morning after Fidelity Services Group local CIC control room received a message of a suspicious person making a fire in front of a premise in Roosevelt Street, Parsons Hill.
A officer was dispatched, and on arrival, he realised that the suspect was about to burn copper.
He immediately detained the male, and SAPS was notified, arriving on site.
The suspect and the copper were handed to them and taken to the Mount Road police station.
