Members of the South African Police Service Giyani Flying Squad made a breakthrough when they confiscated R280000 worth of illicit cigarettes during their routine patrol, on Tuesday night, 06 June 2023 in Tzaneen CBD, along the R71 road.
Police noticed a grey Volvo XC90 SUV that crossed red traffic lights, and tried to stop the vehicle. The vehicle did not stop, instead sped off and a car chase ensued. Subsequently, the suspects in the vehicle jumped out of the moving vehicle and fled into the bushes on foot.
The Police approached the vehicle, upon searching it, they found Remington Gold illicit cigarettes about 250 cartoons, 173 loose filters with a street value of R28, 000 and the motor vehicle at a value of R100, 000. The vehicle and cigarettes are confiscated.
