The KwaZulu Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka alongside the Deputy Director-General for Public Transportation KZN, Ms Fikile Sithole embarked on an official visit to The Netherlands as part of the Terminal Operators Conference (TOC), which commenced from 13th to 15th June 2023.

The primary objective of this conference is to facilitate the gathering of a diverse range of participants, including port authorities, terminal operators, shipping lines, cargo owners, government representatives, associations, equipment manufacturers, and other stakeholders who hold significant roles within the maritime and logistics industry to exchange knowledge and benchmark best practices implemented in different countries, with a specific focus on benefiting the province, which is home to two of the country’s largest ports, namely Richard Bay and Durban.

These ports have been facing challenges in terms of the excessive transportation of goods via road networks, and the conference aims to address these issues and explore more efficient solutions.
